Russian-Swiss Cooperation

The week from 18 to 22 October 2017 in UNECON was marked by the strengthening of cooperation with Switzerland.

A lot of events were organized during the visit of the delegation from the University of Applied Sciences Kalaidos (Zurich, Switzerland) under the direction of its rector Mr. René Weber.

1) Guest Lecture of the Director of the Institute of Financial Education

October 18, 2017 there was a guest lecture of Professor Bernhard Koye, Director of the Institute of Financial Education of the Kalaidos University (Zurich, Switzerland) on the topic "Swiss banks. Strategic Success Factors in the Age of Digital Technologies " for master students of program Banks and Asset Management of first and second year.

 

 

2) Signing of the Agreement between UNECON and the Kalaidos University (Zurich, Switzerland) on the implementation of a joint program for undergraduates of the program "Banks and Asset Management".

The Agreement on the implementation of the joint master's program for undergraduates of the program "Banks and Asset Management" was signed on October 18, 2017. Kalaidos University is the first private university to be accredited by the Swiss Federal Council as one of the eight universities of applied sciences in Switzerland.

  •  Swiss government license - fully authorized to provide ECTS-Credit-points;
  •  Directly controlled by the Ministry of Education;
  •  Market Leader in Executive Education in Switzerland with 20% market share;
  •  Campus in Zurich;
  •  About 2,000 students in Zurich;
  •  FIBAA accreditation (equivalent to AACSB (USA) and AMBA (UK)).

As part of joint program, Swiss colleagues read out 30 ECTS to the Russian undergraduates of the program "Banks and Asset Management". This is recognition of the high quality of the educational services of our University, in particular of the program "Banks and Asset Management". The Swiss part of the program assumes the receipt of extra 30 ECTS through the passage of disciplines which concern international aspect of the banking business and modern financial technologies, as well as the preparation of a dissertation with joint scientific advisory from the Russian and Swiss sides. As a result of the program, Russian students will receive an MBA diploma of International finance.

The signing of the Agreement was attended by the Consul General of Switzerland in St. Petersburg, Mr. Roger Kull, who recently started his activities in our city and country. Mr. Kull noted the importance of cooperation in the field of education and science. In addition, he noted the high interest of Swiss investors to the Russian market and stressed the special role of our University as a platform for meetings of businessmen of both countries.

In his turn, the rector of UNECON professor Igor  Maksimtsev noted the high readiness of our university to develop, expressed the supporting of this project and suggested organizing of an annual Russian-Swiss energetic forum within the walls of our University next year in order to force of Russian-Swiss cooperation.

Vice-rector Professor Veronika Shubaeva  also stressed the importance of the signed Agreement for further cooperation within the framework of the university's chosen strategy, which provides for the transition to modern methods and technologies of education, taking into account the trends of the digital economy. The training of highly qualified personnel with globally necessary competencies in the financial and banking business within the framework of this program will allow participants to quickly adapt to the changing conditions of the labor market.

In conclusion, the rector of the Swiss University, Professor Weber noted great prospects for further cooperation between universities, in the field of education, science and communication with the real sector of the economy.

The opening of the joint program was the result of many years of cooperation and painstaking work of the International Center for Financial Markets Research (ICFMR) of UNECON under the guidance of Professor of the Department of Banks, Financial Markets and Insurance Tatiana Nikitina and the Institute of Financial Education of Kalaidos University under the leadership of Professor Bernhard Koye, who will continue to be responsible for the implementation of this program.

 

 

3) The Russian-Swiss seminar on "Financial education - the challenges of the digital economy"

October 19, 2017 the Russian-Swiss seminar on "Financial education - the challenges of the digital economy" was held at UNECON. The seminar was attended by the Vice-rector on scientific work of the UNECON Professor Elena Gorbashko, the director of the Institute of Master programs  Professor Tatyana Tumarova, the dean of the faculty of economics and finance associate professor Irina Yevstafyeva , the head of the department of banks, financial markets and insurance Professor Svetlana Yanova, as well as representatives of financial business, professors and undergraduates of the program "Banks and Asset Management". The seminar was organized and conducted by the Professor of the Department of Banks, Financial Markets and Insurance Tatiana Nikitina.
