«CASE-IN»: selection stage results

Best teams are in the final of the VIII International Engineering Championship “CASE-IN”, which is a competition included in the president platform “Russia – the country of opportunities”.  During the competition, junior companies’ representatives and students of the Russian Universities are engaged in solving engineering case-studies related to the areas of fuel & energy and mineral resources sectors.

The Championship is organised by a foundation “Reliable followers”, non-commercial partnership “Youth forum of mining leaders” and JSC “AstraLogika”.  

On April, 8 there was an online selecting stage led by a senior lecturer of the School of International Business Anastassia Melnikova. The championship consists of 5 offline selecting stages taking place at different locations. The second successive year UNECON held selecting stage for the “North-West” Zone

The expert committee included the leading specialists of the sector from Stock Company “RosEnergoAtom,”, PJSC “Lenenergo”, PJSC “Interregional distribution company of North-West”, JSC “Ural mining and smelting company”, JSC “Crystal Service Integration”, ”Scientific and Technical centre of Federal Networking company of United energy System”,  JSC Gazprom Oil: Scientific centre”.  Natalia Trifonova, head of the School of International Business of UNECON became a research supervisor and a chairman of the selecting stage.

Winners of the Young specialists league of the “North-West” site are:

I rank - team “APS Rostovskaya”, Stock Company “Rosenergoatom concern” represented by: Elena Kopylova, Tatiana Kovregina, Aleksandr Kostuchenko, Dmitry Isakov.

II rank - team «Technogeeks», JSC “Gazprom Oil: research centre” represented by: Mger Airapetyan, Anna Evdokimova, Aleksandr Tretiakov, Alina Valiakhmetova.

III rank – team  «Dr.Cooper», JSC “Ural mining and smelting company” represented by: Vladimir Ladygin, Daniil Karimov, Boris Krechko, Sergey Yutkin .

Team of young specialists from UNECON “Innovative Scenario” presented well and got all the support of the selecting committee, which included it in the top four. For the first time the University team got such a high rank at the competition among such teams as Stock Company “Rosenergoatom concern”, JSC “Gazprom Oil: research centre”, JSC “Gazprom Transgas UFA”, ”Scientific and Technical centre of Federal Networking company of United energy System”,  “Gazprom extraction Noyabrsk”, PJSC “MRSK North West”, PJSC “Lenenergo”. The team was invited to apply a methodical approach to let the leaders of the given location get included in the process of technological modernisation of one of the energy clusters in Khabarovsk region. Participants gave firm answers to all the questions and not only did they present a solid economic background, but also a systematic approach, good command of engineering and industrial energy mapping of the region. Team Innovative scenario was represented by: Ivan Tolochko (the lead), Aleksandr Tavdidishvilli, Vasilii Glukhov, Lilia Sharafutdinova, Mikhail Oschepkov. Maria Vlasova and professor Vladimir Platonov made their contribution to the process organisation.

On April, 10 a selecting stage “Oil and Gaz Affairs” (led by Anna Kovaleva from the School of International Business) was attended by 16 teams: 13 - represented UNECON,  2 –represented – State University of Economics, Finance, Law and Technologies, 1 – represented St. Petersburg Polytechnical University named after Petr Velikii.

This year the selecting stage took place online, which made participants work with full dedication. Case study had been worked out with and based on materials of “NOVATECH ”

Two best teams got shortlisted for the final (from St. Petersburg Polytechnical University named after Petr Velikii and from UNECON)

1 rank was given to a team «ArcticFirst» (St. Petersburg Polytechnical University named after Petr Velikii) represented by V. Verbnikov, N. Pavlov, V. Golubev, D. Esman,  

2 rank was given to the master students of UNECON: E. Shamanina, A. Sadtrutdinova, A, Shakhkyan, K. Glasunova,

These teams will go to Moscow for the Final of the Championship.

3 rank, according to the Expert Committee, was well-deserved by a team “Monolit”, represented by master students of UNECON represented by: A. Shirokov, V. Sutyagin, V. Kalchiskas.
