Cracow the Wise and the Beautiful: April International Week at Cracow University of Economics

On April 8 – 12, 2019 Irina Vostrikova, PhD, UNECON PR Director, took part in Erasmus+ International Week at Cracow University of Economics. The CUE International Office managed to gather experts, teachers and staff from Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, South Korea, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Peru, Serbia, Ukraine.

Cracow met us in its full spring outfit – medieval towers and streets dressed in pre-Easter flowers and fresh green leaves. It became a prefect venue providing most positive ambience for productive discussion on intercultural differences. The old and wise Cracow survived many historical, political and cultural changes, absorbed the best of each époque and finally became one of the most beautiful and interesting cities with rich history, open soul and forward-looking attitude.

The International Week program comprised a series of lectures and workshops on intercultural business communication, avoiding culture shocks and overcoming challenges for business and education in cross-cultural environment. The cultural program involved a city tour and national tastes event where participants could enjoy Polish national cuisine and pieces of national tastes brought from home. The program really helped to improve our communication skills, knowledge and theoretical basis of cross-cultural management, Polish national way of hospitality and business.

On behalf of St. Petersburg State University of Economics we would like to thank all members of CUE International Office - Agnieszka Nawrocka, Renata Wydmańska, Joanna Kucharzyk, Maciej Pyrzyński – for their hard work and wonderful arrangement of the Week. Special thanks to CUE Vice-rector for Science and Research, Prof. Aleksy Pocztowski.
