Dr. Michael Kranhold’s guest lecture on the topic “Strategies of a modern energy company using the example of “50 Hertz””.

On March 21, 2019, the St. Petersburg State University of Economics hosted a lecture by Michael Kranhold, Honorary Doctor of St. Petersburg State University of Economics and Head of Customer Service at the “50 Hertz” Energy Company, who arrived from Berlin, Germany.

The lecture was attended by bachelor students studying “Economics” and “Regional Studies Abroad”, as well as first-year undergraduates of the Master programs “Banks and Asset Management”, “Energy Economics and Sustainable Development” and “Global Energy Company Economic Strategy” programs. The professor told the students about global trends in the development of the energy sector. In particular, such topics as synchronization of electricity supply, the introduction of “smart grids” and the use of renewable energy sources were touched upon. Using the example of “50 Hertz” company, the professor showed how enterprises organize uninterrupted performance of the country's energy systems. At the end of the speech, there was a discussion of the report, during which students asked questions related to the development of the energy sector in Germany and Russia.
