International Exhibition in Helsinki – our participation

UNECON students from Hotels & Restaurant industry (HoReCa) research department with academic staff of Service, Tourism and Hospitality Faculty took part at «MATKA Nordic Travel Fair 2019» International Exhibition in Helsinki on January 17-19.

Annual International Exhibition MATKA is the biggest tourism and hospitality event in Northern Europe. It attracts exposers from more over than 80 countries while the number of visitors overreaches 20 000.

The tutorial trip is organized by Service, Tourism and Hospitality Faculty with participation of students from Hotels & Restaurant industry research department under supervision of lecturer Tatiana Belyaeva, associate professor Natalia Kusheva and professor Lubov Khoreva.

The plan of the trip was specially designed to provide a possibility to become a part of exhibition work as well as to gain additional experience. Students learned in detail about what «smart-hotel» exactly is on the example of hotel chain «Omena», visited a Michelin-Recommended restaurant and learned brand history of «Fazer» at company’s exposition. Alive experience helped UNECON participants from bachelor and master levels to collect a significant material for their diploma thesises.

«We have a rich experience on organization tutorial trips and internships for students and academic staff and we want to continue to include such interactive events into learning process», - said the Head of Hotels & Restaurant industry research department Svetlana Stepanova.
