Russian-Finnish case for MiBA program

As a part of the Russian-German Double Degree Master Program "International Business Administration/Technology-OrientedManagement" an international case with Finnish University of Haaga-Helia took place.

The business partner for the case study was the one of the best-known Finnish hockey teams “Jokerit”, whose representatives came to St. Petersburg to evaluate the project results.

The initial stage of meeting Finnish colleagues was held as a videoconference, then within each team both Russian and Finnish students cooperated via Internet, and on the final stage, the presentation of projects, Finnish students arrived to St. Petersburg in person, accompanied by their professor.

This kind of project is useful for students: teamwork, international cooperation, practices of conversational and business English – these are the first things that come to mind. However, students receive even more: they improve skills of conducting long-term projects and get the knowledge in specialized areas as well as actual practice in working with international companies. Moreover, students gain valuable experience in practical research, which is very important for their future employment.

Also, at first glance, preparation of English presentations as well as a presenting skill itself seems to be a rather complicated thing, but with proper division of tasks inside the team, each participant has an opportunity to increase language skills, to try him or herself in a new role or just to learn something new from yet unknown field of studies.

In addition to all above, international cases are always challenging and memorable, as everyone has an opportunity to broaden their horizons, learn about the mentality and culture of people from all over the world and of course make new friends.
