Guest lecture by Professor Clemens Renker at the International Scientific and Practical Seminar on current issues of Economics and Finance

On October 6, 2020 the first International Scientific and Practical Seminar on current issues in economics and finance was held with the support of the International Center for Financial Markets Research (ICFMR), the Russian-German Center and the department of banks, financial markets and insurance.

Rector of St. Petersburg State University of Economics I.A. Maximtsev greeted the participants of the seminar and noted the particular importance of such an event in the conditions of pandemic and impossibility of live communication. Introductory speech was made by the seminar organizer, Professor of the Department of Banks, Financial Markets and Insurance, Director of ICFMR, T.V. Nikitina.

The keynote speech on the topic “Banks in the face of epoch-making challenges: what should we do?” was delivered by Prof. Dr. Clemens Renker (https://ifme-institut.de/), professor of the Department of Marketing and Banking at the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz, honorary professor of St. Petersburg State University of Economics, director of Sparkasse Schweinfurt, member of the Supervisory Board of Volksbank.

Such issues as the banking in Germany, changes in interest rates, transformation of business models were considered. Rudolf Faltermeier, Professor at the Technical University of Munich, Detlev Hummel, Professor at the University of Potsdam, Sabina Kauf, Professor at the University of Opole, G.F. Feigin, Professor at UNECON, as well as Master’s students in the field of “Finance and Credit” took an active part in the discussion.

Next Tuesday, October 13, at 5:00 p.m. (17:00, Moscow time) the keynote speaker will be Bernhard Koye, Professor of the University of Applied Sciences of Kalaidos (Switzerland), an expert in the field of digital transformation of banks.
