XVIII Forum «Petersburger Dialog»: our participation

Unecon delegation headed by Igor Maksimtsev participated in the XVIII Forum «Petersburger Dialog» in Bohn, Germany, July 18-19.In Königswinter, a neighbourhood city near the Bohn, was a two-days working session of Russian-German Civil Societies Forum «Petersburger Dialog». Event which was held at the 18th time, united around 400 guests.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and Federal Republic of Germany – Sergey Lavrov and Heiko Josef Maas welcomed participants.

Their speeches showed a common trend between Moscow and Berlin to see a «cooperation as a keynote for a peaceful Europé» (a slogan of a forum). Participation of two Ministers of Foreign Affairs clearly demonstrates both sides interest in collaboration.

In the frameworks of the Forum official part a welcome speech also gave

  • Viktor Zubkov – a Russian Federation Special Presidential Envoy on the Cooperation with the Forum from Gas-export Countries, current Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC «Gazprom», Chairman of the Russian Coordination Board of the Forum «Petersburger Dialog»
  • Ronald Pofalla – Former Federal Minister for Special Affairs of Federal Republic of Germany, and currently, the CEO of the Infrastructure Department of Deutsche Bahn., Chairman of the German Coordination Board of the Forum «Petersburger Dialog»
  • Armin Laschet – the Minister President of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany
  • Anton Alikhanov - the Governor of Kaliningrad Oblast

Working party «Science and education» of Forum is headed by the rector of Unecon - Igor Maksimtsev from the Russian side and Wilfried Bergmann, - a Member of the Academic Council of the European Academy of Arts and Sciences, from the German side.

Igor Maksitsev: 

«The main purpose of the joint work is to extend communications and increase level of the trust in Russian-German relations by developing an interaction between scientific and educational units in Russia and Germany. It can be done through activation of civic organizations, universities and schools collaboration, »

During the current year the focus of Working party «Science and education» is being kept on migration issues in Germany and Russia and on the developing educational network online.

Unecon Rector mentioned that networking and online education matters have already been widely discussed at the workshop on April, 19, 2019 in Saint-Petersburg, where an agreement on developing a partner network between Russian and German science and business organisations was signed. It aims to support technology transfer and research commercialization.

Creation of a networking partnership will be implemented under the frameworks of Russian-German Roadmap for Cooperation in the field of Education, Science, Research and Innovation, approved on December 10, 2018 by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Mikhail Kotyukov and Federal Minister of Education and Research of the Federal Republic of Germany - Anja Karliczek

Igor Maksimtsev:

 «Networking partnership gives a potential for universities to boost developing on a complete new level, to claim on serious positions in the international educational space. Elaboration of integration processes between education, science and technologies makes possible to perform a professional training in the frameworks of co-joint Russian-German projects implementation».

Participants of Working Party «Science and education», the higher education representatives from both sides, made their reports on networking partnerships in civic, science and professional communities, resumed results of half a year work and settled new targets. A Unecon Vice-Rector on Strategic Development Nikolai Toivannen made a presentation from Unecon there as well.
