Changing Energy Landscape: the EU-Russia Energy Relations

The Summer School aims at proactive Bachelors’ and Masters’ students having interest in the field of Energy Economics and studying Economics, Business, World Economy, Political Science, etc.

The Summer School is supported by DAAD and bears a status of CBSS Summer University 2021. Among partners of the Summer School, there are Gazprom export, 50Hertz Transmission GmbH, Uniper.

The programme focuses on world energy trends, latest developments in the Russian energy sector and European energy market, EU-Russia energy relations, sanctions issue, oil price dynamics and the consequences for energy sector, decarbonization, sustainable development and other topics.



Before the start of the programme, students will receive three Energy Cases. The cases will introduce three economic, political and ecological perspectives on the development of the energy sector: International Gas Transmission Pipelines, LNG Terminals and LNG Bunkering. Students will be required to do three individual assignments, one for each case, prior the arrival. On the first day of the programme, students will be divided into teams. Each team will face a task of completing their group assignment before the end of the programme. On the last day of the programme, all teams will present their assignments to the Jury and other teams.



The workload of the Summer School is 7 ECTS.

Participation fee is 1000€ (800€ for applicants from UNECON partner universities). Students of German universities may compete for DAAD scholarship of 650 Euro. The fee includes residence costs, lectures and excursions. Catering is not included.

To apply for participation, you should send your CV, motivation and reference letters to summerschool@unecon.ru until 1 June 2021. The organization committee selects students according to their motivation and reference letters. The relevance of home university study programme/research work will be taken into consideration.

* In case of impossibility to hold the Summer School on site because of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, the Summer School will be held online on 16-30 August. In this case, terms of online participation will be determined later.
