Igor Maksimtsev elected Vice-President of the Eurasian Universities Association

On March 23, during the XV Congress of the Eurasian Universities Association, held at Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), Igor Maximtsev has been elected Vice-President of this organization.

The Eurasian Universities Association (EUA) is one of the long-standing, influential and reputable international institutions of higher education of the Eurasian region, which unites universities of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tadzhikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan.

The EUA’s Congresses discuss the issues of national education development, preserving common educational environment and ensuring universities’ diplomas equivalence, development of cooperation among the EUA member universities in education and science, and basic learning methods of improvement in higher school education.

The EUA carries out its activities through numerous conferences, forums, inter-university relations and contacts. EUA members participate regularly in the Annual International Forum “Eurasian Economic Perspective”, held in St. Petersburg on the initiative of UNECON.

This Congress aimed to discuss the key cooperation areas in the current environment. In accordance with the Charter of the Association, the EUA’s President has been re-elected. Victor Sadovnichiy, Rector of the MSU, President of Russian Rectors’ Union, Academician of Russian Academy of Sciences has been unanimously confirmed for this position. Rector Igor Maksimtsev has been elected Vice-President of the EUA. There have been held elections of the EUA’s Council members and other governing bodies of the EUA. Also, the Resolution of the XV Congress of the Eurasian Universities Association has been adopted. Participants of the event noted the important role being played by organization as a platform for supporting inter-university relations and creating conditions for scientific, educational, and humanitarian cooperation among Eurasian countries.
