In 2025 UNECON hosted two InteRussia international fellowship programmes in the field of energy

In July and August, the programme was attended by experts from Latin America: Brazil, Colombia, Salvador, Chili and Ecuador. The programme was implemented by UNECON in collaboration with the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, TV BRICS International Media Network within the flagship programme “New Generation” by Rossotrudnichestvo under support of the “Global Energy” Association and Russian Energy Agency Minenergo (REA), National Committee of economic collaboration with countries of Latin America, the Presidential Grants Foundation.

The foreign fellows spent four weeks visiting governmental institutions, industrial enterprises and energy infrastructure facilities of Russia. While in Moscow the guests paid visits to the Russian Power System Operator, Metro Dispatch Centre, Road Traffic Management Situational Centre, e-Busses Charging Station, TransNeft, “Medvedevskaya” Digital Substation 110 kV Rosseti of Moscow region, in Saint Petersburg they were welcome at the Committee of External Affairs of St. Petersburg, Tram and Trolleybus Park of St. Petersburg Gorelectrotrans, KINEF, Rosseti Digital Network Lab, Gazprom Neft Fuel Terminal “Gladkoye”.

During lectures and meetings with experts, the fellows discussed international energy security, features of the energy market (oil, gas and coal markets), future of gas engine fuel, hydrogen agenda and Russia-Latin America collaboration in the field of energy.

At the end of the programme, the fellows presented their projects that raised the topics of energy transition, energy security of Ecuador and Brazil, impact of data infrastructure on the energy market and provided the in-depth analysis of Chilean and Colombian energy markets.

In November and December, UNECON hosted the internship for ASEAN fellows in collaboration with the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, TV BRICS International Media Network and Russia-ASEAN Business Council under support of the Presidential Grants Foundation, “Global Energy” Association and Russian Energy Agency (REA) Minenegro.

The programme aimed to foster economic and scientific-technological cooperation between Russia and ASEAN in the field of energy.

The programme carried out in Autumn was featured with an in-depth scientific approach. In fact, it started with the fellows meeting with global leaders at the XVIII International Scientific and Practical Conference “Energy of the XXI century: Economy, Policy, Ecology” to discuss energy transition and to exchange their ideas on training specialists for the energy market.

The fellows dove into discussion of the energy agenda within the interactive lectures, seminars and during their visits to energy facilities of Moscow and Saint-Petersburg.

The internship finished with the fellows defending their projects. Besides lecturers of UNECON, the projects were discussed and assessed by representatives of GAZPROM, Committee of the External Affairs of St. Petersburg, Experts from Europe, Vietnam and India and alumni of InteRussia from Chili, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Presentations of speakers from Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar and Cambodia carried out along with their Russian co-speakers (3-4th-year students, department of Regional Economics and Environmental Management, UNECON) touched upon such topics as modern and innovative energy development (LNG, methanol, hydrogen fuel, nuclear energy), ways to develop international energy markets and development of energy systems of specific countries, regions and municipal territories in terms of global and macroterritorial processes of decarbonization.

The fellows were granted certificates at the awards ceremony that took place at the end of the Internship.

The InteRussia fellowship was launched in 2021 by the Gorchakov Fund. The mission of the project is to foster scientific, social and cultural networking, to provide the environment for a constructive dialogue of young Russian and International specialists. Within four years, Russia was visited by approximately 400 specialists from over 70 countries.
