International educational programme was completed at UNECON

International educational programme “Changing energy landscape: The new energy routes or energy landscape towards net zero” was successfully completed at St. Petersburg State University of Economics on August 25, 2023.

Leading specialists from national ministries, energy companies and research centres of the ASEAN countries participated in the programme, created at the initiative of the Russia-ASEAN Business Council. The programme was implemented on the basis of the Platform for Collective Energy Security of Russia and the countries of Southeast Asia with the participation and support of St. Petersburg State University of Economics, The Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund (InteRussia internship programme) and the Russian Energy Agency (REA) of the Ministry of Energy of Russia.

The program pursued three main goals: to expand Russia’s economic, scientific and technological ties with the ASEAN countries; to create conditions for the development of dialogue in the energy sector; to establish business contacts between interested parties for further projects.

For four weeks, foreign guests attended lectures, seminars, analyzed cases, and participated in discussions with leading experts and specialists. The main topics of the training programme were international energy security, current and long-term trends in global energy markets, the Russian oil and gas sector in an international context, the strategy of a low-carbon economy in Russia, the growing role of China and new transport corridors in Central Asia, the key issues in relations between Russia and ASEAN countries in the energy sector. Visiting various infrastructure facilities was an integral part of the programme. In Moscow the group visited the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, the main dispatch centre of “SO UPS” JSC (United power system operator), the Department of Transport of the Government of Moscow, TPP-20 of the “Mosenergo”. In St. Petersburg visit included the City Administration, LLC KINEF, CS Severnaya and Leningrad NPP.

The program ended with a certificate awarding ceremony. Congratulations on the successful completion of the internship were delivered by Natalia Sushcheva, Vice-Rector for Digital Development of St. Petersburg State University of Economics, Daniyar Akkaziev, CEO of the Russia-ASEAN Business Council, Sergey Orlov, Leading Specialist of the Gorchakov Fund.

UNECON expresses gratitude for the cooperation and fruitful teamwork to the project partners: the Russia-ASEAN Business Council and The Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, as well as LLC KINEF represented by Director General A.V. Kameshkov, CS Severnaya represented by A.V. Knyazev, Deputy Director of the branch of Gazprom Transgaz Saint Petersburg, Leningrad NPP represented by A.A. Belyakova and the Committee for External Relations represented by the Deputy Chairman of the Committee V.G. Kalganov for organizing and conducting visits to the enterprises.
