The Youth Day in the framework of St. Petersburg International Gas Forum – the industry’s largest business event – will be held for the twelfth time in 2026. Traditionally, it will serve as a unique informational, intellectual, and project-based platform, bringing together representatives of the industry’s business elite, heads of international energy projects, and young people from leading universities.
The project is implemented by St. Petersburg State University of Economics with the support of Gazprom, Expoforum, and partner companies. Over the years, more than 2000 young people from 70 countries have participated in the project.
In 2026, the key focus of the event will be human resources and technological support for the construction and operation of energy megaprojects.
Particular emphasis is placed on:
- forming international student teams;
- developing career paths in the gas industry;
- developing international projects and programs.
Youth Day creates opportunities for those whose competencies shape the future of the gas industry: engineers, economists, ecologists, and managers.
Project stages
- Until 25 June 2026 – registration.From 25 to 30 June 2026 – entrance test for the applicants and announcement of the results.
- From 6 to 30 July 2026 – participation in the virtual business lab “Energy Megaprojects” and selection of top 30-35 participants.
- From 6 to 9 October 2026 – participation of the top 30-35 students in the Youth Day events at the SPIGF venue in Expoforum. The program will include workshops, business game, project session, off-tie meeting with industry executives and experts, career lounge, as well as attending SPIGF Plenary Session and Exhibition.
Selection criteria
- Bachelor’s (4th year), Master’s, and PhD students
- Being under 26 years old inclusively at the time of the event
- Intermediate level of English and upper
- High motivation to develop a career in the energy industry
- Project experience / participation in olympiads (preferred)
- Communication skills and willingness to work in an international team
