On March 15-17, 2023 the UNECON delegation headed by the Rector Igor Maksimtsev participated in the VII St. Petersburg International Labor Forum.
St. Petersburg Labor Forum is the largest discussion platform in the Eurasian space in the field of labor relations, where the whole range of issues of the labor market and economy, staffing systems and exchange the best HR practices and techniques, modernization of the state employment Service, the formation of a common labor market of the CIS countries is considered. Representatives of professional association, government, business, education and trade unions annually gather at the Expoforum Exhibition Center.
At the Forum Igor Maksimtsev held a number of meetings with partners, spoke at round tables and signed agreements on cooperation. Elena Gorbashko, Vice-rector for scientific research, Olga Onufrieva, Vice-rector for strategic development and external communications, Yana Klementovichus, Vice-rector for additional professional education, Natalia Sirota, Vice-rector for organizational and human resources work and Sergey Grishin, Vice-rector for social and educational work took an active part in the Forum as usual.
Rector Igor Maksimtsev and Vice-rector for strategic development and external communications Olga Onufrieva participated in a round table discussion “New career opportunities in the energy sector of the future. Undiscovered resources of cooperation between business community and academic environment”. They discussed many relevant topics with the representatives of partner companies during the event. They talked about career opportunities in the energy sector, trends in the cooperation of business communities with educational institutions, and the opportunities provided to students by such partnerships. The round table was moderated by Olga Orlova, Professor of the UNECON Chair of Banks, Financial Markets and Insurance, Head of scientific program “Economics of oil and gas trading activities”, and Alexandra Bobyleva, Acting Head of UNECON Alumni and Corporate Partnerships Center, Head of UNECON Career and Employment Center.
At the Forum, UNECON and State Labor Inspectorate signed an agreement on cooperation in science and education, mutual practical, advisory, methodological and other assistance, joint activities, and internships for students. The agreement was signed by the Rector Igor Maksimtsev and Igor Belyaev, Head of the St. Petersburg State Labor Inspectorate.
The training of specialists for the field of hospitality and congress-exhibition activities in educational institutions, the importance of industry educational cluster, and company’s creative potential were discussed at the round table “How and why to develop the company’s human capital in the field of hospitality and congress-exhibition activity”. The round table was moderated by Elena Vasilyeva, Acting Director of Center of Competence in Tourism and Hospitality of St. Petersburg, Director of UNECON International Scientific Research Center, and Elena Ublieva, Executive Director of Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs (RUEF), PR Director of ExpoForum-International. The speakers were Dmitry Cherneyko, Chairman of the Saint-Petersburg Committee for Labour and Employment, Sergey Korneev, Chairman of the Saint Petersburg Committee for Tourism Development, Sergey Voronkov, General Director of Expoforum-International, and university and foundation representatives.
The UNECON Higher Economic School has been holding a regular round table “Business Education in the Interests of Sustainable Economic Development” at the Labor Forum for several years now. The project was supervised by Valentin Galenko, Chief Researcher of Higher Economic School. The Russian Association of Business Education (RABE) and the National Accreditation Council for Business Education (NASDOBR) were the round table partners.
Valeriy Potemkin, Professor, Head of the Sociology and Human Resource Management Chair, and Darya Velmisova, Associate Professor, were speakers at the round table “Strategic management of human resources in the context of new challenges of the external environment”. The experts analyzed the best national practices of strategic human resource management using the example of Russian and foreign companies.
Rector Igor Maksimtsev emphasized the significant contribution of many volunteers, UNECON students, in preparing and conducting the Forum. Participation in such a large-scale event was an important professional experience for them.
