“TRANSFORMATION OF IDENTITIES IN MODERN EUROPE AND RUSSIA”

The Project is dedicated to the study and dissemination of knowledge about formation and transformation of identities in the context of mutual influence and change of cultures in the modern world, as well as comparison of the relevant trends in Europe and Russia in historical retrospective and at the present stage.

In the framework of the Project 7 events are planned:

3 international conferences;
2 rounds of focus groups and interviews with Russian and European students;
1 workshop;
1 summer school for university teachers.

The events are designed to increase knowledge about the problem of social, political and cultural transformation of European and Russian societies, the experience of the EU and Russia in the formation of identity, the role of civil society in the formation of social identity, the features of integration and migration processes in Europe, the significance of intercultural dialogue and cooperation.

Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Project “Transformation of Identities in Modern Europe and Russia” is finished

In UNECON, an Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Project “Transformation of Identities in Modern Europe and Russia” (01.09.2019-08.03.2022), being implemented by the team of International Analytic Centre, has been finished.

The project was dedicated to the study and dissemination of information about the formation of modern identities in Europe and Russia in the context of mutual influence and change of cultures, as well as transformation of identities in Europe and Russia in historical retrospective and at the present stage.

Project events were dedicated to different aspects of identity and culture such as European and national identity, social identity, integration and migration processes in Europe and their influence on identity, multiculturalism in different European countries, formation of youth identity in Europe and Russia, identity and global challenges and many others.

In total, seven project events which included international conferences, a workshop, focus groups and interviews with European and Russian young people, a summer school for university teachers, were attended by almost 900 participants including teachers and students of 26 HEIs of Saint Petersburg and 30 HEIs and scientific institutions of other Russian cities, 10 European experts, leading Russian experts, representatives of local authorities, business community, civil society, non-profit and charity organizations. More than 200 expert and student reports were presented at project events and deepened listeners’ understanding of different aspects influencing formation and transformation of European and Russian identity.

The project team expresses its deep gratitude to the participants of the events, teachers, students and everyone who actively participated in the project and contributed to its implementation.
